SeaLink Travel Group (ASX: SLK) announces that the resolution relating to the purchase of two new vessels received overwhelming approval from shareholders at the Special General Meeting held today.
The “MV Palm Cat” and the “MV Maggie Cat”, which carry 300 passengers each, will be acquired for $6 million plus GST and funded from existing debt facilities.
SeaLink Chair, Mr Giuliano said the new high speed vessels were light, fast and ideal for Captain Cook Cruises ferry operations.
“There’s growing market demand for services on Sydney Harbour and we are hopeful of winning new contracts in addition to those we already operate for Harbour City Ferries, the Biennale Festival and the temporary Convention Centre” Mr Ursini said.
Captain Cook Cruises commenced a week day commuter ferry service between Watsons Bay and Circular Quay in Sydney. The new service has been welcomed by local residents who have embraced the new service route.
With the addition of the two new ferries SeaLink’s fleet will increase to 27 vessels.
