SeaLink is an established, geographically diversified tourism and transport company which provides services in two diverse industries being the Transport Industry, moving regular commuters and freight between travel destinations, and also the Tourism Industry, promoting and packaging holiday destinations, providing tours and delivering tourists to travel destinations.

The company currently has operations across three states and the Northern Territory operating under the well-recognised brands in "SeaLink" and "Captain Cook Cruises".

The main products and services of SeaLink Travel Group are:

  • Passenger and freight ferry services between Cape Jervis and Kangaroo Island in South Australia (SA);
  • Tourist cruises and other charter cruises on Sydney Harbour, New South Wales under the "Captain Cook Cruises" brand as well as regular ferry passenger services;
  • Murray River cruising aboard the historic PW Murray Princess in SA;
  • Passenger ferry services between Townsville and Magnetic Island and Palm Island in Queensland;
  • Travel Agencies in Adelaide and Sydney;

MANAGING DIRECTOR AND CHIEF EXECUTIVE OFFICER

Jeff Ellison holds a Bachelor Degree in Accounting, and is a Chartered Accountant and a Fellow of the Institute of Company Directors. Following 8 years in private practice he joined SeaLink as Finance Manager in 1991 and was promoted to the position of Chief Executive Officer in early 1997. Jeff has been instrumental in the development of SeaLink from a ferry and day tour operator to a diversified tourism and transport operator increasing operating revenue from $12.8 million in 1997 to $94.7 million in 2013.

Jeff holds board positions with the Adelaide Convention Centre, TTF Australia (Tourism & Transport Forum). He is also Chairman of the South Australian Tourism Commission Audit and Risk Management Committee and the Adelaide Convention Centre Audit and Risk Management Committee and TTF Australia Audit and Finance Committee. Jeff is a former Regional Board Member of the Institute of Chartered Accountants SA & NT.

Andrew McEvoy is the Managing Director of Life Media and Events at Fairfax Media. He came to the role at the start of 2014 after 20 years in the tourism and travel industry, most recently as Managing Director of Tourism Australia (four years), the nation's global marketing agency.

Playing the leading role in Australia's $107 billion visitor economy Andrew oversaw a return to growth of Australia's inbound tourism sector with a stronger focus on Asia while remaining competitive in the traditional long haul markets of the UK, Europe and the Americas.

Life Media & Events encompasses lifestyle-oriented products - travel, health, food, parenting and motoring - into a single division while Fairfax events is another major revenue growth business for the company. Fairfax events aims to more strongly engage its 10 million strong monthly readership through mass consumer events across Australia and NZ. Engaging it's diverse communities with a particular focus on running, food, the arts, parenting and business events and giving back through charity fundraising.

Prior to joining Tourism Australia, Andrew had almost 20 years of tourism and media experience including as CEO of the South Australian Tourism Commission (SATC). Andrew began life as a journalist with News Ltd and has lived and worked overseas.

Andrew was elected to the position of Non-Executive Chairman of the Board from July 2015. He has been Chair of the Board for the Adelaide Riverbank Authority Board since August 2014.

Christopher D. Smerdon

Chris has extensive experience in the Information Technology field. He founded Protech Australasia in 1984 and was Managing Director until he sold his interests in 1995. Under his leadership, Protech was developed into a national business with offices located throughout Australia.

In 1996 he established IT Services Group which in 2001 became part of Vectra Corporation Limited, an international player in Security Consulting, Solutions and Infrastructure. Chris is currently Managing Director of Vectra Corporation.

Chris has specialist management experience, a strong technical knowledge and a history of establishing and building new businesses. Other directorships currently held by Chris are with the South Australian Government Motorsport Board, Tourism & Allied Holdings Pty Ltd. and Aquaport Corporation.

Chris joined the Board in 2002 and is a major shareholder in SeaLink.

Terry Dodd

Terry Dodd has extensive experience in Business Management and the Marine Industry. After qualifying as a commercial diver in the USA and working as a commercial diver in the onshore and offshore oil and gas industry, he successfully established a Recreational Diving Business and a Travel Agency in North Queensland.

Terry is Managing Director of Pacific Marine Group Pty Ltd one of Australia's largest diving companies. Terry was previously Managing Director of Sunferries prior to its sale to SeaLink

Terry is also Managing Director of Sydney Fast Ferries.

Andrea Staines

Ms. Staines has extensive experience in the transport sector and is a former CEO of Australian Airlines (a subsidiary of Qantas) which she co-launched in 2002. Ms. Staines currently sits on the Boards of Uniting Care Qld, Tourism Australia, QIC, Goodstart Early Learning, NSW Transport Advisory Board and the Australian Rural Leadership Foundation. She has previously been a Director with Aurizon Holdings, Australian Rail Track Corporation, Gladstone Ports Corporation, North Queensland Airports, Allconnex Water, Early Learning Services and Royal Children’s Hospital Foundation.

Fiona Hele

Ms Hele was appointed a Director on 13 September, 2016. Ms. Hele has extensive experience in the financial sector and is a chartered accountant with over 20 years in private practice specialising in strategic and succession planning, human resources, profit and process improvement, feasibility studies, corporate governance and due diligence. These skills will add to the Company’s focus on new acquisition activities and revenue management improvement.

Ms Hele is a board member of the Adelaide Venue Management Corporation and South Australian Tourism Commission.
